Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 August 2026
These terms apply to your use of Folderwatch, a desktop application published by IAM_DEV. By installing or using the app you agree to them.
What Folderwatch is
Folderwatch watches folders you choose on your own computer and displays a live timeline of files that are added, edited, renamed or removed. It runs entirely on your device. It has no account system, no cloud service, and does not transmit your files or file names anywhere.
Licence
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Folderwatch on devices you own or control, for personal or business purposes. You may not resell, rent out or redistribute the app, nor attempt to decompile or reverse engineer it, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
Acceptable use
You may only watch folders you are entitled to access. Do not use Folderwatch to monitor other people's files without the right to do so, or in any way that breaks applicable law or the rules of a system you do not own. You are responsible for how you use the app.
Activity is not saved. Folderwatch holds folder activity in memory only, for as long as the app is open, and discards it when you quit. It is not a backup tool, an audit log or an archive, and it cannot recover activity from a previous session. If you need a permanent record, note down what you need before closing the app.
No warranty
Folderwatch is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. While it aims to report changes accurately and promptly, file monitoring depends on your operating system, your storage devices and your system's load. No guarantee is made that every change will be detected, reported, or reported in a particular order or timeframe — particularly during very large bursts of activity, when the app reports a summary rather than every individual change.
Do not rely on Folderwatch as the sole safeguard for anything critical, including compliance, security monitoring or data protection.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IAM_DEV is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of or inability to use Folderwatch. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Price and availability
Folderwatch is currently offered free of charge through the Microsoft Store. Distribution, installation and any ratings you leave are also governed by Microsoft's own terms. The app may be updated or withdrawn at any time.
Privacy
Folderwatch collects no personal data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page with the date shown above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
